VEGAN STEAK

Hello and welcome back!

I feel like most people in the UK have been hearing about the new vegan sensation – Vivera Veggie Steak  that launched only last week, but has been selling out within minutes in Tesco stores across the country. In fact, according to Plant Based News, 40,000 Veggie Steaks sold out within days. That is a huge success and just goes to show how big is demand for plant based options. What a treat for vegans and vegan curious, or those who want to cut down on meat. Apparently, the rumors say that this steak has been fooling meat eaters and has impressed most of people who have tried it.

I had to get my hands on it and see for myself if it’s really THAT good. I must say that finding the steaks was a mission. I’ve been running around town in rain for three days, I’ve been tweeting Tesco stores asking if they have it in stock, but had no luck until today. You know how you get the feeling that you were in the right time and right place? Well, that’s how I felt when I saw the last two packs of steaks on the shelf. LOL.

I decided to go with a traditional recipe if you may. A very simple yet nutritious and healthy dish accompanied with asparagus and sweet potato fries.

Start off by frying onion and garlic.

Then add mushrooms.

Add some nutritional yeast. This makes mushrooms go really creamy.

Add red kidney beans.

Stir fry until cooked properly.

Start cooking asparagus.

Then cook the steaks for 5 minutes, turning sides half way.

Once everything is ready, serve with a side of sweet potato fries and put Alpro Simple on top of the mushroom mix and enjoy the goodness.

What a treat! Steak was very filling. It really had the meaty texture and taste was flavoursome. If anyone has ever been to Temple of Camden in London and had their hamburger, it tasted just like that. Super delicious. I’m not surprised why these are selling out in every store. I definitely recommend trying this brand. I’ve tried their Pulled Veggie as well which is alternative to pulled pork and made incredibly mouthwatering stir fry.

I love being vegan, it has never been easier. I’m excited about the future – full of conscious, compassionate individuals changing the world for better one step at the time. 🌱🙌🏼

Simona, thank you for sharing this with me. Living with a carnivore meat lover is challenging and this might be a good way to introduce him to a healthier diet/ menu. Thanks again I will definitely give it a go, especially with the dishes you have put together that make it sound so appealing.
