Hello and welcome back!
I hope you all had an amazing start of the New Year 2018 and are as excited for it as I am, because I know this year is going to be grand! And what better way to start a fresh year than to go away to winter-summer holiday in Tenerife?!
I was amazed by how many places offered vegan menus and even had 100% plant based restaurants. I wish we had the time to try them all, because the places we went to had the most delicious meals and desserts. Tenerife has become incredibly vegan friendly no matter if you’re down in the South or up in the North, you will find some place to enjoy plant based meal. Just make sure you download the HappyCow app which will show you the best places to go for vegan/vegetarian food near by.
We stayed in the beutiful Puerto de la Cruz in North, and only a short walk away from our hotel we found this little gem Roots – cozy café/smoothie bar with outside seating. They had many vegan food options for every taste, either you’re a little health freak like I am, or just a foodie, they had something for everybody. We loved it so much that we went back many times wanting to try different things. My favorites were the Buddha bowls and Acai bowl.
Another one of our favorites in Puerto de la Cruz was a Vietnamese cuisine that offered many vegan options – Saigon Baguette. We tried the baguette which was very hearty and filling (great hangover cure, hah) and then we went back for a birthday dinner and had some Vietnamese style noodles with soy meat and tofu.
On my boyfriend’s birthday we drove to the South and had the most amazing day. We went jet skiing and saw dolphins, they were so close to us. What an incredible moment was that, to see them in their natural habitat just swimming and jumping out of the water! I don’t think I’ll ever forget that. After that we went paragliding, which was abso-freaking-lutely crazy! Can’t remember if I’ve ever been that scared and excited at the same time. Such an experience! Definitely recommend this company if you’re up for an adventure in Tenerife.
We also went to K-Vegan in Los Cristianos, which is located in Mercado La Pepa Food Market and had a take away. The food was really nice and freshly made, they also brew their own kombucha.
In Santa Cruz we found another vegan/vegetarian fast food place Burger Mel, which was good for a quick bite on the way back.
I travel to Tenerife at least once a year and seeing how many more vegan places are opening is incredible. The demand is growing by days! This has been one of my favorite experiences so far and I’m happy I can share it with all of you!
On that note – Thank you and I will see you soon with another post!
