Hello and welcome back!
Shopping for make-up and skincare products can be overwhelming and confusing at times, unless you have already found your go to favorites and you know what works for your skin just by reading the ingredients. It’s very important to keep in mind the rule of thumb as well: “if you can’t pronounce the ingredients then you probably shouldn’t be using (or eating) that product”! Which is why I urge people to shop cruelty free, because most vegan cosmetics don’t contain the harsh chemicals that can irritate and dry out your skin. When using a product that contains animal-derived ingredients, you are exposing your skin to whatever that animal has been exposed to, such as pesticides. Also, by shopping cruelty free, you are, literally, sparing lives of innocent animals that suffer for the “beauty” industry…
There are so many cruelty free brands that can be easily found in your nearest drugstore and high end make-up aisles. My favorite website to find all info on current available products is CrueltyFreeKitty.com I highly recommend to visit this site if you are against animal testing and wish to switch up your makeup products to something new.
So, without further ado, I want to give you an insight into the beauty saviours that have become staples in my everyday routine.
Primer: I use NYX Studio Perfect Photo-Loving Primer (£10.50). It’s perfect for color correction if you have redness around your nose and cheeks. It has a nice matte finish that doesn’t dry out the skin. I wouldn’t recommend it for oily skin or overly dry skin. However, it’s perfect for normal to dry type of complexion.
Foundation: Too Faced Born This Way Foundation Porcelain (£29.00). If you have a normal/dry skin complexion, this foundation works wonders. It’s easy to apply and it covers your skin flawlessly. No fine lines, no cakey patches around dry areas. It is important to moisturize and prime your face prior applying any foundation if you want it to last you all day without a worry.
Concealer: Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer Fair (£3.99). I love this product! I have been using it for years now and couldn’t be happier with it. The coverage, the formula..everything is just great. I also recommend their foundation if you’re looking for something more affordable. I believe it is £5.99 in any drugstore.
Mascara: Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara (£19.00). You’ve probably heard every single beauty guru obsessing over this mascara and there is a reason. It’s just the best mascara out there, that simple!
Lipstick: KylieCosmetics By Kylie Jenner Matte Lip Kit ($29.00). I probably own one too many Kylie’s Lip Kits and I’ve probably spent way too much money on them, but when it comes to makeup – lipsticks, especially matte formula, is my weakness. They smell heavenly, shades are very pigmented and it stays on for a very long time. Great product!
My second go to lipstick is Kat Von D ‘Everlasting’ liquid lipstick (£17.00). The shades are beautiful. If you’re that chick who likes to rock it out sometimes and look edgy, I highly recommend KVD.
Makeup Setting Spray: Urban Decay ALL NIGHTER Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray (£23.50). For a long lasting and untouched look I definitely recommend Urban Decay spray. When you are heading for a night out that involves dancing, this will keep your gorgeous makeup in touch. Travel sizes available for £10 30ml.
For a more affordable price I also recommend NYX Professional Makeup Setting Spray – Matte Finish/Long Lasting (£7.00). It does set your makeup and gives you that mat finish, but it feels rather sticky on your face until it’s completely dried off.
Taking care of your skin is not only important, but also a relaxing and pleasant process. Having a smooth and wonderfully scented skin leaves your body feeling fresh and moisturized all day long.
